The National Competition, Early February 2000, Lake Geneva Wisconsin.

We floated many ideas around about what to make for the Nationals. We finally decided on this eleventh hour entry based on a strange vision I had while looking at a Cirque dé Solei poster.

The main organizer, a fellow named Don, was scared for us when we got to the to the part where we cut out the supports and freed all the negative space. He thought the big ball on top would fall and crush us.

Apparently we looked like people who didn’t really know what we were doing.

This, in part, was true... but we made the big ball hollow to reduce weight... it was all an illusion...

Amongst the hearty and experienced competition, we learned many things, but did not place in the event.
